"Fine house for a Leprechaun" // A Day in the Life of the DeWalds

I've been told that it's nearly impossible to catch a Leprechaun. Don't let that stop you from trying though! That little Leprechaun might leave a bit of gold wherever he goes. In this case, he left skittles, gold coins, and a gold foil pack of Pokemon cards- WIN!

A couple of weeks ago, I had the extreme pleasure of spending a day with the DeWald family. If you are lucky enough to know these people, I'm sure you can attest to their awesome-ness. The love in this house is like something I have never seen. It was great to be with people who took so much joy from simply being with one another!

If you're familiar with my blog, you will notice that I have includled more pictures than normal in this preview. Well, that's simply because I couldn't narrow them down! Our day together was completely ordinary (besides the leprechaun visit). I don't think we ever even left the house, except to briefly dig for gold in the backyard. And yet, every minute was filled to the brim with sweet, funny, and playful moments.

This normal, cold, Saturday at the house was FULL of excitement. The morning began with folding a bit of laundry. Then there was breakfast, a treasure hunt (there was some suspicious green glitter out on the front steps that we needed to investigate), followed by laser tag.

All this excitement called for a nap, and after nap cuddles are THE SWEETEST.

If you look at this picture below and think, "Wow, is that a Lego set of the Burrow? I didn't know they made those!" Well, you're right. These guys completely won me over with their Harry Potter Lego sets (the castle, the train, and the burrow) that they bought off Ebay, because they're no longer sold in stores! Melinda also gifted me my very first Hufflepuff shirt, which I absolutely adore and wear more often than I probably should.

In their words, "A day full of things that we normally do, just not normally all in one day."

I want to remind everyone, that these are unposed images. In fact, I seriously doubt I could've made any of these moments happen, even if I was trying to direct them. That's the beauty of documentary work; it's so real, that you can't help but feel it.

Melinda and Ted, thanks again for inviting me to spend the day with you and your family. You are such welcoming, kind people, and your boys are certainly evidence of that. It was truly a pleasure to make these pictures, and I hope that I'll see you again in the coming years!
